Brevard County - On the morning of May 3rd, hundreds, if not thousands, of motorcycles will line up. Their starting point is Eastern Florida State College in Cocoa. This is the starting point of the escort of the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall. It will start at 10 AM and will then be escorted through Brevard County to its final stop, which is Wickham Park in Melbourne, and it will be at this location for the week. This marks the start of Florida’s 38th All Veterans Reunion.
There will be displays of military vehicles and historic items, as well as conflicts of the past, such as memorials from the 911 attack, Afghanistan, and the Iraq War. Color guards from different agencies will be present, and there will be a wreath laying for all those lost from these past conflicts. Included in this, there will also be a 21-gun salute. All this will happen during the opening ceremonies.
Followed by a week of remembrance, the yearly event ends the weekend with music from live bands and artists for all the veterans to enjoy. On Monday, May 11th, the memorial then departs Melbourne to travel to its next spot in Califon, NJ. This yearly event is visited by people from around the world, not just local veterans.
In hopes, this memorial not only helps the veterans heal from the past, but in a lot of cases get help with problems they may have in just everyday life. Another purpose is to educate the future generations on how these conflicts affected us as a nation.
The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall can be viewed 24 hours a day at its location in Wickham Park during the week. It is manned with volunteers during this time, as well as providing information about the memorial and offering help to the veterans in need of it.
Melbourne – With the smell and look of great-looking food and sweets, a person would think they are in a high-end bakery. Everywhere you turn in this unique bakery, you can see some of the most delicious-looking food all in one place. From tropical drinks to hot buttered pancakes. Buttered popcorn in a bowl of Fruit Loops, it all looks like you can sit down to a great meal. However, you don’t want to eat these meals. Everything is made of wax.
Almost Edible Candles, located in Melbourne, Florida, was created by Will Therrin, who is not only a professional candle maker but also a candle baker. The taste-tempting creations that he makes not only look good but also smell like what they look like. Each individual creation is handcrafted with exact detail, making each a unique piece of art.
"Not merely candle makers, but 'Candle Makers' creating works of 'heart'"! -- Wil Therrin
Each and every weekend, you can see him in his candle bakery making these creations with all the detail of top chefs. Customers by the thousands stop to watch Will work on these works of art. With the amazement of children, people watch as these wonderfully smelling and looking candles get made.
After making candles for over 50 years, Will has made food-looking candles an art form that looks and smells like your favorite foods. Just by looking into his kitchen, you can see all the tools of his trade, most of which look like any other kitchen. Rest assured, even though it looks and smells like food you don’t want to eat, the strawberry shortcake is. You can, however, light it up and enjoy the glow and smell.
Brevard County – The Sheriff of one of the largest counties in Florida has used social
media to add to the tools used to capture criminals. By creating an online presence with his
own shows with titles kike Wheel of Fugitive, Super Speeder Saturday, 60 Seconds or less,
and 10-94. (Radio call for back-up) With this online presence, he has managed to capture a lot
of subjects wanted for offences that would normally need a lot of manpower and time to
catch these people.
Shariff Wayne Ivey, an over 40-year veteran of law enforcement and the recipient of the
President’s Award for efforts in crime prevention and community awareness from the Florida
Crime Prevention Association. (FCPA), along with various other awards and distinctions.
Taking office in 2012 and being re-elected in 20116, 2020, and again in 2024. He quickly took
to social media and used it as another tool for something other than just showing.
Creating YouTube shorts targeted at individuals with criminal warrants and showcasing
arrestees who have committed serious crimes. Later, updating the public on major incidents
that have happened in the Brevard communities. Taking major pride in Brevard County, always wanting better for the Sheriff’s Department.
“As sheriff, I strongly believe that it takes a community to protect a community. By working together, we can
keep Brevard County and the state of Florida a safe place to call home! ~ Sheriff Wayne Ivey
Reported by Florida Today Newspaper, due to the adoption of Facebook and other
social media, crime has been reduced 51% since Sheriff Ivey took office. Calling the use of
Facebook a force multiplier in the fight against crime. Other effects are high engagement policing, public education, citizen information on the need of services, controversy, and
Criticism.
On the other hand, many online critics have commented that the Sheriff is more interested in
creating a brand and not using it for law enforcement duties. However, with popular series
like Wheel of Fugitive, Fishing for Fugitives, Cookin up Justice, Let me break it down for ya,
and Sheriff’s Hit List, and with the effectiveness in crime reduction, there is no denying that it
is working.

BREVARD COUNTY, FL. — Brevard County is moving forward with an important project to improve water quality in the Indian River Lagoon near the Eau Gallie Causeway, funded through the voter-approved Save Our Indian River Lagoon (SOIRL) Program and Florida Department of Environmental Protection grants.
The Eau Gallie Northeast Muck Removal Project targets a muck pit located just northeast of the Eau Gallie Causeway, where decades of excess nutrient and organic-matter loading have resulted in the accumulation of organic-rich muck sediments. This material can cloud the water, lower oxygen levels, and harm fish, seagrass, and other wildlife.
Dredged material will be hydraulically pumped through an approximately 7-mile pipeline from the project area to a dredge material management area near Robert J. Conlan Blvd in Palm Bay, for dewatering.
Work is expected to begin in mid-April 2026 and continue through mid-2027.
What Residents and Boaters Need to Know
As construction gets underway, boaters traveling in the area should be aware of active dredging operations just northeast of the Eau Gallie Causeway and the pipeline extending from the dredge area and the dredge material management area outside the channel.
For safety, mariners are urged to:
Use extreme caution when navigating near the project and dredge material management areas
Travel at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake
Be alert and follow directions from on-site crews
Proceed carefully after passing arrangements have been made
Floating and submerged pipeline—used to move material from the project area to the processing site near Robert J. Conlan Blvd.—will be present in the water. This includes both high-density plastic and steel piping that may not always be fully visible.
Project Benefits
Once complete, the project will:
Improve water clarity
Increase oxygen levels for fish and marine life
Support the return of seagrass and healthier habitats
Help reduce algae blooms
This effort is part of Brevard County’s ongoing commitment to restoring and protecting the Indian River Lagoon for future generations.

BREVARD COUNTY, FL. – Brevard County residents have the opportunity to dispose of old tires in an environmentally friendly way and help reduce mosquito breeding grounds and the spread of mosquito-borne diseases. Brevard County Mosquito Control, in partnership with Brevard County Solid Waste Management, the Florida Department of Health in Brevard, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, is hosting Tire Amnesty Days on April 16, 17 and 18.
